Underwater CSI

This comprehensive 24-hour course is designed for crime scene investigators, detectives, crime laboratory analysts, and others in the field of forensic science that have the basic training and skills for crime scene examinations. This course will assist in the thorough documentation of physical evidence at the underwater crime. Topics to be discussed include: safety issues, continuous training with team leaders, regional resource list, equipment necessary to examine this type of crime scene, search techniques, underwater crime scene management, and proper evidence recovery including firearms and vehicles. Mock scenes for this course are designed to assist the student’s understanding of the importance of underwater crime scene documentation, and to obtain the maximum amount of information and physical evidence from this specific type of crime scene by providing hands-on, practical exercises.

What to bring to the course:

Casual attire, wet suit, diving equipment, and a digital camera with macro capabilities are preferred; however 35mm camera may be used. If you have an underwater camera please bring it to this course.   Laptop computer for your courtroom presentations would be highly recommended.  If you have underwater equipment, please bring it to the course for mock under water crime scene examination.  You will not be required to get into the water to take this course.
